Experience Highlights
- Duration: Full day
- Type: Group Experience
One of the best ways to experience Perito Moreno glacier is on foot.
The tour begins at Bajo de las Sombras pier, some 4 miles away from the glacier. You will cross the Rico branch of the lake on the Safari Nautico boat, stopping for about 20 minutes in front of the glacier. After landing on the opposite shore there is a short walk to get to the shelter where the guides give a complete explanation about glaciation and a safety briefing for the ice trek.
After this you will start a walk through the impressive Magellanic forest to the ice. This Minitrekking tour is particularly appealing because of the close contact you will have with the glacier. You will be able to see the glacier's summit and there are also caves that allow you to reach the very base of the glacier, as well as small internal deep blue lagoons. The views of the glacier's wall, and the lake, are magnificent. You will be able to walk on top of the glacier with our expert guides for over 2 hours. The way back is a walk through the forest again, ending at the shelter. You will have one hour for lunch (not included).
After the Minitrekking, you'll get aboard your boat and return to Bajo de las Sombras port. Then there will be time to explore the walkways before heading back to Calafate.
Note:PVT/SIB, trekkers must be between 18-65
