Experience Highlights

  • Duration: 3 days/2 nights
  • Type: Group Experience

Base yourself at the extraordinary Luna Salada, a hotel made entirely of salt with a priveleged location of the edge of the Salar de Uynui.

Day 1 - Arrival to the airport in Uyuni, the closest town to the stunning Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat on Earth. Located on the Bolivian Andean Altiplano with 12,000 km2; the Bolivian Andes offers out of this world scenery The sound of silence makes the heart beats faster and the surreal pentagons of crystalline salt, the pure sky and the cacti, make you feel that there is no other place like this in the whole world.

After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Isla “Incawasi”, an oasis with formations of algae and fossils. It is covered by thousands of giant cacti, some of which are more than a hundred years old and have grown to a height of over 12 metres. The landscape against the background of the salt flats extending to the horizon makes it an ideal place for photography.

Day 2 - Enjoy a full day excursion to the small village of Tahua, at the foot of Thunupa Volcano which lies close to the Salar de Uyuni. Thunupa Volcano is a reminder of the  geological activity which created the Andes Mountains millions of years ago and reaches a height of 5432 metres. Stroll through the village and hike to the cave of the Coquesa Mummies where the dried up remains of the current inhabitants are buried. Although it may sound sinister, these mummies have helped piece together how these people lived many years ago.

Day 3- Depart Uyuni for your flight to La Paz or travel overland to the city of Potosi.
