Experience Highlights
- Duration: 5 hours
The tour starts out in the village of San Pedro de Atacama heading south, going through the ayllus (traditional communities in the Andes) of Solor and Cucuter, to enter the Atacama Salt Flat. The trip’s final destination is Laguna Cejar (Cejar lagoon) situated in the Salt Flat some 30 km from San Pedro at 2,300 metres above sea level. The ride is over a flat road with some sandy patches.
These natural sinkholes are noted for their high content of salt and lithium offering bathers a floating experience in their calm waters. The surrounding landscape is amazing, where the blue-turquoise-coloured water contrasts with the deep blue skies, the white salt of the flat, the yellow and green reeds on the lake shore and the pink feeding flamingos.. After 2 ½ hours of exercise, riders are ready to return to their hotel.
