Experience Highlights
- Duration: 6 hours
'Santiago like a Native' offers a chance to become a 'santiaguino' for six hours and enjoy an excursion that leads to the very core of Chile’s capital. The tour begins with a subway ride on the metro - known for its cleanliness and very good conditions. The first stop on the way is Metro station 'Universidad de Chile' where visitors surface at Santiago’s splendid main avenue (Av. Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins, also known as Alameda). On the left is the Universidad de Chile’s main campus and looking north is Paseo Ahumada, the city’s main shopping and commercial centre. From here, several important buildings are visited such as La Moneda government palace, the Stock Exchange and the Plaza de Armas square with Santiago’s Cathedral on one side. The square is the preferred meeting place for different cultural groups whose numbers are growing steadily in the capital. Lunch will be enjoyed at a restaurant at the Central Market that offers a host of seafood varieties. After lunch discover bohemian Santiago with a visit to Barrio Bellavista, with its pubs and restaurants, where some of Chile’s traditional drinks may be tasted - among them its world class wines. The tour concludes with a climb to San Cristobal hill, crowned by the radiant statue of Virgin Mary, to take in a spectacular view of the city.
