Experience Highlights
- Duration: 5 hours
This afternoon visit one of the Atacama's most famous other worldy landscapes. Driving out of San Pedro de Atacama, head to the Cordillera de la Sal, a stunning landscape made up of natural stone and sand sculptures that millions of years ago formed part of a large lake. From here, enjoy beautiful views of the valley. The next stop is the Mars Valley, also known as Death Valley. Home to peculiar stone formations, this area is considered one of the country's most barren regions due to no vegetation, wildlife or insect sightings in the area. At Las Tres Marias, witness unique geographical formations close to an old salt mine before visiting the famous Moon Valley. Named after its lunar like landscape, the Moon Valley really does resemble the surface of the moon. Head up to the top of a giant sand dune to witness the sunset below the horizon. From here, an amazing spectacle of different colours on the rocks can be seen.
