Experience Highlights

  • Duration: 2 days/1 night

Day 1 – Travel south from Quito south to visit Cotopaxi National Park. From here, weather permitting, you will be able to see the snow-capped summits of both the Cotopaxi and the Antisana volcanoes. Visit Cotopaxi Interpretation centre to learn about the history of its major eruptions as well as the local flora and fauna. Later, you will go to Limpiopungo lake and explore the area by foot. Overnight at a Lodge or Hacienda of your choice.

Optional, if you feel like walking, after a 2 hours hike you will arrive at Cotopaxi’s  José F. Ribas Refuge at an altitude of 4,800 m where you will have a spectacular view of the volcano and the Andes Mountains.

Day 2 - After breakfast we will travel towards a traditional indigenous marketplace around the Cotopaxi area. Local markets are a key part of Ecuadorian tradition and culture, a place where the indigenous communities supply themselves with food and accessories. In comparison it is a completely different way on how we shop in our regular groceries stores. In the afternoon, return to Quito.
