Experience Highlights

  • Duration: 4 - 5 hours
  • Type: Group Experience

Your guide and driver will collect you from the lodge after an early breakfast, for a wildlife and birding drive in the national park. The route followed for most of the drives takes about 4 hours to complete and covers about 35km. From the main entrance gate, the road goes southwards to the Falls. From there, you head east to the gorge and northwards to the gate through the dry plains of Ilala Sala. Its in these grassy plains that visitors tend to see groups of oryx and gazelle, along with some of the bustards, a group of birds well represented in the park. (Look for the massive Kori and rare Arabian bustards here). Abysinnian rollers, Red and yellow barbets and Northern carmine bee-eaters, add vivid splashes of colour to the landscape. You'll be taken around the park in a 4-wheel drive vehicle, because some road sections are rough, especially during or after rains.
