Konso excursion

The Konso region can be visited as a half-day excursion or longer, using either Kanta Lodge near Karat-Konso as a base, or Paradise Lodge at Arba Minch. Either way your guide and driver will collect you from your lodge after breakfast. Set off in your 4-wheel drive vehicle to this very interesting region, where scenery is characterised by the fairly steep. intricately terraced slopes. You may also visit the 'New York' geological formations. You will be taken to see one of the walled villages in the area, where your guide will explain the distinctive village layout and structures to you. You should also see the 'generation pole' in the village centre and some 'waka', which are wooden carvings used for funerary purposes. We highly recommend a lunch stop at the Kanta Lodge restaurant, which serves hearty meals and has an outdoor dining area underneath a massive wild fig tree.
