Goha Hotel in Gondar was privatised some years ago and its big selling point is its superb location on a hilltop from where there are lovely views over the town.
From the terrace and the swimming pool - where guests can enjoy sundowners - various raptor species can be seen flying quite low overhead.
The 60 rooms and four suites have been refurbished and decorated incorporating traditional style; they are clean and comfortable albeit no-frills. Each has a desk, television, telephone and 24hr room service.
The restaurant seats up to 60 guests. There are two large bars as well as a gift centre selling local craft items.
