Gaze out towards the impressive Mount Kilimanjaro from Elerai Camp – an excellent accommodation option for your Amboseli safari holiday in Kenya.
The lodge forms part of the community-owned, 5,000-acre Elerai Conservancy, located approximately 12 kilometres from Amboseli National Park. During your stay, you have majestic views over the unspoilt Amboseli plains and Mount Kilimanjaro. If you’re unable to budget for the higher-end Elewana Tortilis Camp or Tawi Lodge, this is the perfect option. It’s a comfortable, mid-ranged camp with close links to the local Masai community. For instance, the Elerai Camp Community and Wildlife Trust allows you to make donations to assist them directly.

Craig’s Experience & Review
Our Africa Travel Specialist, Craig Kaufman, visited Elerai Camp in late 2024.
“Resident elephants are often seen and heard from camp, whereas the floodlit watering hole alongside the lodge attracts a variety of game.”“Its Private Conservancy does have some good wildlife for you to spot, including elephants. But, you’re less likely to see predators here rather than in the Amboseli National Park itself.”“You also have the opportunity to walk alongside Masai warriors in search of elephant, giraffe, zebra and other wildlife as they herd their cattle to grazing grounds. In addition to this, Elerai offers nightly game drives to see serval, genet, civet, aardwolf, owl and bushbabies.”“There’s a long and bumpy drive from the airstrip, which is situated in Amboseli National Park to the camp, and partly on a main road as you exit the park.”
