Discover a place of ever-changing landscapes at Tawi Lodge – an eco-award-winning lodge ideal for your Amboseli safari holiday in Kenya.

Tawi Lodge is located four kilometres (five minutes) from Kimana Gate, the eastern entrance to Amboseli National Park. With it being situated in its own 6,000-acre Kilitome Conservancy, you’re able to experience exclusive game driving and walking excursions. Just imagine heading out with your expert guide in search of lion, cheetah and the abundant birds in the area. There’s so much to experience during your stay. It’s also surrounded by an unobtrusive electric fence, which is used to deter intrusion by elephants and buffalos, so you can enjoy a peaceful sleep.

Accommodation & Facilities

  • In total, there are 13 Cottages.
  • These are spacious thatched cottages, with concreate terracotta-coloured walls, and canvas windows/doors. You can completely open them up to maximise the views. Outside is a private wooden deck, with views over the bush and Mount Kilimanjaro.
  • The wine cellar is popular with guests who hope to enjoy a tipple.
  • It’s also not uncommon to sit on the cottage balconies and watch the resident elephants wander around and towards the lodge’s waterhole.
  • Tawi is known for its warm friendly service and spacious, comfortable accommodation.

Craig’s Experience & Review

Our Africa Travel Specialist, Craig Kaufman, visited Tawi Lodge in late 2024.

“This is an incredibly stylish lodge. I felt as if I was entering a country retreat! You get a warm welcome as soon as you arrive and the lush, green vegetation and beautifully attended main garden/grounds area with ponds and birds is lovely. It’s an oasis in this relatively dry region.”“The central area is based around a large, thatched, two-storey building with a reception, lounge, bar, dining area and wine cellar. Stairs lead up to a viewing deck with comfy sofas and a small library. Across the well-kept lawn is a swimming pool, with a smaller kids’ pool beside it.”“On a clear day, there exists phenomenal views of Mount Kilimanjaro.”“Not only that, but Tawi also has a waterhole in front of the lodge, attracting wildlife from elephant to zebra, impala, kudu and more. There’s a lodge firepit on a wooden walkway, too.”“Being situated within its own private conservancy, you’ll find that there’ll be a lot less tourist traffic during game drives. Night game drives and bush walks are also an option. But, the quality of big cat and elephant sightings probably wouldn’t match that at Elewana Tortilis Camp.”
