Ol Malo is an exclusive, family owned and managed lodge in a magnificent location on the edge of the Laikipia Plateau in northern Kenya. It is set in the contours of the rocky escarpment, architecture in harmony with its natural setting.
Accommodation
The four enormous thatched cottages are set along the cliff edge. Constructed from stone and old olive wood, they have vast picture windows offering uninterrupted views of the rugged landscape. Each has a private verandah from which to survey the valley below and savour the splendid view over the Laikipia Plateau to Mt. Kenya. There are also two en-suite tents and the new Ol Malo House, for the exclusive use of up to 12 guests.
Activities
There is a great choice of game viewing and other activities at Ol Malo. In addition to day and night game drives and guided bush walks, you have the opportunity to engage in private game viewing from your verandah or the main lodge area. You can do your game viewing on horseback, go into the bush on a mountain bike or on a camel, visit a manyatta, camp under the stars or sleep out in the hide. And the bush breakfasts are unforgettable.
Facilities
Ol Malo has a stunning cliff-edge infinity pool. The pool overlooks the valley, and the waterhole and salt-lick below attracts big game, including the kudu from which the lodge takes its name, buffalo and large herds of elephant. Lunch is often served beside the pool.
The lounge area is a comfortable place to relax between game viewing, and to take advantage of the Ol Malo team’s deep knowledge of this untamed place. The dining area offers incredible views, shady terraces and excellent meals, usually with local produce. After dinner, retire to the lounge, sit round the fire and enjoy the stories.
