Experience a small and intimate stay at Porini Rhino Camp, perfectly located for you to explore Ol Pejeta Conservancy on your Laikipia safari holiday in Kenya.
Porini Rhino Camp is set on the banks of a seasonal river, under the shade of acacia trees. Being located in a secluded valley in the vast 90,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy, you have an excellent base from which to seek out the country’s ‘Big Five’, including endangered black rhinos. The camp adheres to strict eco-friendly and responsible eco-tourism principles and has a prestigious Gold Eco-rating from EcoTourism Kenya. It’s designed to have minimum environmental impact (with no permanent structures and using eco-friendly fuel).
The following optional activities require an additional cost (paid in advance or at camp):
- Visit to the northern white rhinos
- Lion tracking
- Dog tracking (tracking with trained dogs from the anti-poaching unit).

Craig’s Experience & Review
Our East Africa Travel Specialist, Craig Kaufman, visited Porini Rhino Camp in late 2024.
“Each tent at Porini Rhino Camp is tastefully furnished and comfortably functional. They’re perfect if you’re someone who wants a tented camp experience without any frills attached.“The camp also has a basic, but unique ‘underground photographic wildlife hide’. The hide is carefully placed just a few metres from the camp’s mess and lounge area, overlooking a waterhole where wildlife comes to quench their thirst throughout the day. These wildlife species include elephant, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, gazelle, waterbuck and – every now and then – lion.“It’s a special experience being able to see one of these creatures so close up.”
