Stay in luxury within the Ngobit River Conservancy area and enjoy diverse wildlife spotting while based at The River Camp on your Laikipia safari holiday in Kenya.
Opened in January 2023, The River Camp is a stunning property set on the bank of the (small) Ngobit River within the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. It’s part of the superb Wilder Group, so accommodation is both comfortable and elegant. The rooms are on raised wooden platforms. The rooms are light, airy, made out of large, modern neutral canvas walls and roofs. The canvases on the guest rooms are all unzipped, with mosquito mesh forming a boundary to the outside world.

Craig’s Experience & Review
Our East Africa Travel Specialist, Craig Kaufman, visited The River Camp in late 2024.
“The River Camp is lovely, modern and well-designed – think light and airy with neutral colours.“Enjoy a five-course meal with plentiful options, all tasty and featuring Indian and Tanzanian coastal influences with an infusion of spices. The staff are always friendly and enthusiastic.“It’s surrounded by an unobtrusive electric fence to deter intrusion by elephants and buffalos – but not at the front of the camp where the Ngobit River is. As a result, during the evening, night and early morning hours, bear in mind that buffalo can cross into the campgrounds.“Also, the guest rooms are formed of mosquito mesh and canvas, so they can get cold at night. But the camp does provide hot water bottles on bed – something which I found incredibly cosy.”
