Experience Highlights
- Duration: 2 - 3 hours (flexible)
- Type: Group Experience
After dark, your guide will collect you from your lodge that you are staying in on your Madagascar holiday and be transferred to the start point of the location where you go for your night walk: this may be in Mitsinjo Parc or in the small rainforest parcel of VOIMMA, which is protected by a local guides association.
Grading of the trails is easy. Be sure to pack a strong torch with some spare batteries for night walks.
Many guests also like to do a night walk in the secondary growth flanking the tarmac road to Andasibe, but do note that in the spring and summer months (late August to December) this stretch can be very crowded, with many visitors gathering around each nocturnal animal that is located.
During night walks, you may see Eastern woolly lemur, Weasel sportive lemur and Goodman's mouse lemur. In summer, look for Furry-eared dwarf lemur too. Reptiles often incountered include Parsons and Nose-horned chameleons. Tree frogs are quite common.
As is the case with night walks across the country, we recommend to avoid trying during full moon as very little wildlife is in evidence then.
