Experience Highlights
- Duration: Half-day (flexible)
- Type: Group Experience
Your guide will collect you from the lodge early this morning and take you to the national park entrance for your walk along one of the circuits in this wildlife-rich rainforest. The start will be timed so that you are able to enjoy the dawn chorus to the maximum.
Trails in both Andasibe (‘Perinet’), correctly known as Analamazaotra National Park and the equally rewarding Parc Mitsinjo (Analamazaotra Special Reserve) just across the road, are gentle and graded as easy to moderate. You should finish your walk by late morning, after which you will be taken to a restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, you will be able to return to the rainforest to seek more diurnal wildlife if you wish.
Key species sought by most visitors here include Indri and Diademed sifaka, both of which are critically endangered but can be seen quite easily as there are habituated groups. Other iconic Malagasy rainforest denizens include Blue coua, Parson’s chameleon and Giraffe-necked weevil.
