Experience Highlights
- Duration: Half-day
- Type: Group Experience
This wonderful day outing by speedboat should be arranged in advance but settled directly at the Anjajavy lodge reception. You may share the boat with other guests as the excursions are not operated daily. (Current rate is €65 per person). After breakfast, depart by speedboat into the wild Moramba Bay, dotted with many small, uninhabited islets shaped like mushrooms because of strong erosion. On some of these wooded islets there are sacred burial sites of the Sakalava people, who selected the locations because they are free of pigs. (It is fady or taboo, for pigs to run across graves among the Sakalava people here). While in the boat, you may see the critically endangered Madagascar fish eagle, as two pairs are resident there. There are some beautiful, deserted, sandy coves flanked with deciduous forest and numerous Baobabs. Here, a picnic lunch can be enjoyed in seclusion. Guests can also go snorkelling around one of the limestone islets in the bay.
