Antananarivo city highlights tour

We offer sightseeing tours of the bustling capital of Antananarivo in vintage, open-topped Citroen cars. Your driver and guide will collect you from your hotel after breakfast, at a pre-arranged time. (Best to wait until rush-hour traffic is over). The stops that you can include in the excursion will depend on your personal interests, so these can be modified to suit you. 

Aside from the better -known attractions such as the Queen's Palace (Rova) and Lac Anosy - which is pretty when surrounded by flowering Jacaranda trees in September and October - you can also visit Avenue de l'Independence right in the middle of the city and then, for something different, the Musee de la Photographie de la Madagascar. There, enjoy wonderful photographic displays covering the various historical periods Madagascar underwent. For some shopping, you can't beat Lisy Art Gallery, where an impressive array of handicrafts is stocked at many colourful stalls and shops.

Other stops our clients have been enjoying, include the Anosipatrana silk works where you can learn about all stages of the Malagasy silk industry and also, purchase some beautiful items. There is also the very atmospheric African House, where you can enjoy a traditional meal, some music and see art installations by local artists. Nature enthusiasts tend to stop by at Tsaratsaotra lake, the world's only privately-owned RAMSAR wetland site. 

At the end of the excursion, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
