Constance Le Prince Maurice is an exclusive resort hotel in a sheltered location on the northeast coast of Mauritius. It is set in 60 hectares of lush grounds on an isolated peninsula bordered by four white sand beaches and surrounded by a placid lagoon. Constance Le Prince Maurice is a superior five-star hotel, a member of ‘Relais & Chateaux’, providing privacy, tranquillity and a generous choice of activities.
Accommodation
The striking architecture of Le Prince Maurice employs natural building materials like marble, wood, thatch and stone, combined with inlets and flowing pools, to create surroundings evocative of the East – which is appropriate for a hotel named after one of the pioneers of the spice trade. The luxurious suites are scattered along the pristine beach, in landscaped tropical gardens overlooking the Indian Ocean, on the ocean inlets, or suspended on stilts over the natural fish reserve.
The junior suites are 70m2, with a bedroom, indoor sitting area, terrace or balcony and the lavish amenities you would expect from an hotel of this calibre. The décor is colonial in style, with cream fabrics and wood furniture and panelling. Junior suites with connecting corridors are available.
The 12 senior suites are individual villas of 130m2. Each has a living room with dining area, a terrace, a bathroom with jacuzzi and an outdoor bath. Nine of the villas have a private swimming pool and direct access to the beach; the three villas on stilts on the fish reserve do not. In a secluded location, the princely suite comprises two junior and one senior suite, two swimming pools and three separate terraces.
Food
The hotel has two excellent restaurants. In the main building, overlooking the pool and the ocean, L’Archipel is divided into three areas – two outdoors – and serves breakfast, lunch and à la carte gourmet dinners influenced by traditional Mauritian flavours. Le Barachois is Mauritius' only floating restaurant, five decks overlooking a natural fish reserve. It specialises in grills, seafood, Mauritian dishes – and magnificent sunsets. The beach restaurant is open for lunch and is the site for evening entertainment. There are two bars in addition to the fitness centre bar.
Facilities
The health and fitness centre provides a well-equipped gym, air-conditioned squash court, jacuzzi, plunge pool, thermal pool, steam bath and sauna, as well as aqua-gym and stretching. The Guerlain spa offers a range of therapeutic and beauty treatments and a very good massage menu. Yoga, T’ai Chi and the Body Doctor fitness programme are special features (extra charge). Sports facilities include two floodlit tennis courts, water-skiing, sailing, windsurfing and snorkelling; and free access to the two Belle Mare Plage championship golf courses, the golf academy and the practice putting green – a complimentary shuttle service is provided. Other facilities include tennis and golf lessons, scuba diving, deep-sea and fly fishing, and catamaran cruises (extra charge). The hotel has several shops and provides all the services you would expect from an hotel of this standard, including Wi-Fi broadband internet access throughout the hotel.
Children
A mini-club with its own pool and restaurant caters for children from 4 – 12 from 9 am to 9 pm.
Le Prince Maurice has been awarded the Relais & Chateaux ‘Purple Shield’, and has been Green Globe benchmarked since 2005.
