Machangulo Beach Lodge in Southern Mozambique, the Machangulo Peninsula overlooks the channel that runs between Inhaca Island and the dunes of the Santa Maria Peninsula in the Bay of Maputo.
This untamed area is the frontier between the estuaries and the Indian Ocean. The Lodge overlooks long secluded, sandy white beaches and pristine dune forest into which the property is built.
The lodge is reached by a one hour boat transfer from the marina in Maputo, making this an idea extension from South African safari or some beach time after the Cape and Garden Route. There are five premium ocean view chalets, on dune forest ridge overlooking the ocean, with en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, mosquito nets, minibar and private deck.
Closer to the beach are additional nine villas nestled which are a perfect choice for larger groups or families travelling together, including 2 bedroom villas and a 4 bedroom villa with its own pool, lounge and kitchen. All areas are connected by raised walkways and staircases to the beach, main lodge with lounges, bar, dinning area, beach bar and pool area.
There are a number of lovely activities that can be arranged from the lodge including dune walks, a visit to Santa Maria Village to experience the local culture, excursions to Inhaca and Portuguese Island or the mainland capital of Maputo, fishing, snorkelling, beach picnics, seasonal whale watching (June – November) and turtle nesting excursions (late Spring) and no forgetting the Wellness Spa (excursions and motorised activities at an additional charge, some activities are tide and weather dependent).
Inclusive extras from the Beach Bar: beach towels, gazebos, hammocks, boogie boards, fishing rods, snorkel sets, kids toys and beach chairs.
