Set in a grove of quiver trees, Fish River Lodge’s 20 chalets have a spectacular position on the edge of the canyon.
The highlight of a stay here is the full-day 4WD excursion into the base of the canyon. It is a demanding drive on rugged terrain, and guests often choose to go some of the way on foot.
Look for kudu, oryx, klipspringer, mountain zebra and fish eagle. The lodge can be reached by car, or by plane using the nearby airstrip.
