Country Lodge

Country Lodge is one of Freetown’s finest hotels offering very comfortable accommodation with international standard facilities. It is ideal for settling into Sierra Leone, and is a welcome guarantee of a hot shower and a comfortable bed after strenuous travelling or exploring up country.

 The hotel occupies a commanding position atop Hill Station, the former location of the British administration of West Africa. The site is surrounded by curious colonial-era buildings built on stilts to minimise the impact of the summer rains. The hotel’s verandah offers bird’s-eye views of the Western area where modern mansions, compounds and shanty towns sit side-by-side, sprawling up from the coast along the valleys between the hills. In the distance is the city’s main beach, Lumley Beach, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Accommodation

Country Lodge has recently opened a new wing with 24 rooms and 4 executive suites. The rooms are equipped with TV, a safe, air-conditioning and a network cable for accessing the internet and have spacious en suite facilities. Good WiFi.

Facilities

The hotel has a large swimming pool and terrace area. The mountains around Freetown offer a spectacular backdrop to a game of tennis on the hotel’s court. The restaurants are always humming with diners and offer a wide, eclectic menu and views across the terrace and the city. The hotel also has a mini-gym and internet access. The popular hotel bar is well-stocked.

Food

Breakfast is served throughout the morning offering anything from a range of fresh fruits to full English fry-ups. Dinner and lunch are offered at either the Eden Restaurant on the terrace or the Coconut Terrace by the pool. The menu is extensive and offers a range of European, Middle Eastern and African dishes. The seafood is particularly recommended. The Country Lodge restaurant is consistently rated as among the best in Freetown. 2022 feedback is excellent.
