Experience Highlights

  • Duration: 4 hours

This tour departs from the Nelson Mandela gateway at the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town. We suggest getting the earliest departure as this activity is very weather dependent and the seas can become rough as the day progresses.

From here you will take the ferry across to the Island. Robben Island served as a prison from the 17th – 20th centuries. A place of banishment and isolation. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum and a reminder of the price of freedom.

You are then taken on a tour of the Island and prison. You will meet some very interesting people and learn a lot about the history of the prison.

You will then take the ferry back to the mainland where the tour ends. This is not a private excursion.
