These small, 5-star sister lodges are both situated on the southern side of the 9000-hectare Amakhala Reserve.
Game is plentiful and includes lion, rhino, elephant, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, black wildebeest, zebra, and 14 antelope species, including eland. With the Bushman’s River running through the reserve, birders will enjoy sightings of Fish Eagle and African Finfoot on tranquil morning or afternoon river cruises.
BUKELA GAME LODGE
Has just four luxurious, airconditioned chalets, complete with spa baths and viewing decks. Wooden walkways connect the rooms with the main lodge and wooden pool deck overlooking a small dam frequented by buffalo – perfect viewing from the comfort of your lounger! Books, cards, boardgames, television and internet facilities are available in the library. Evening meals are served in an outdoor boma.
HLOSI GAME LODGE
Has six sumptuous chalets have similar amenities, including spa bath, a welcoming lounge and fireplace, air-conditioning, underfloor heating and an outside openair shower. Two of the chalets are two-bedroomed. Offering ideal family accommodation, the living areas are spacious and the kitchenette has microwave and fridge; a family-size hot tub awaits you on the deck. There is also a varied and supervised children’s activity programme.
