Remote, peaceful and modern, Nimali Mara is a comfortable yet luxurious lodge close to the border of Kenya in the north of the Serengeti, ideal for couples and families alike.
Not only are you located in a serene area on the side of a low kopje overlooking gently rolling plains, but you’re on the doorstep of the Serengeti National Park – and a 35-minute drive from Mara River. The Serengeti is home to the Big Five of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino while the Mara River harbours huge pods of hippo and some of the largest crocodiles in Africa.
Afterwards, return to one of 10 tented suites. Only a 35-minute drive from Kogatende Airstrip, the lodge is easily accessible, so you can get straight into the heart of the action following your flight.
Accommodation
Nimali Mara has eight glass-fronted, tented suites – each with an ensuite bathroom and private deck.
Additionally, there are two spacious honeymoon suites that both double as family suites. Sleeping up to four people, these accommodation options immerse you in the lodge’s diverse natural surroundings while affording you some of the most mesmerising views over the Serengeti plains.
Dig into a flavoursome three-course meal served in the communal dining area, with various options catering for most dietary requirements. Depending on seasonality, the menu you experience will differ day to day. Enjoy a refreshing gin and tonic as you soak in the magnificent setting sun.
Wildlife, Activities and Facilities
While embarking on a game drive in the Serengeti, you can spot the Big Five and, between July and October, the great migration takes place. Roughly two million wildebeest traverse the plains, which you can see from various crossing points close to camp. Outside of this period, game viewing is available year-round, but best from June to September when it’s cooler and the animals more active.
Alternatively, you can head up high in a hot air balloon to see this spectacle in action. Floating serenely over the trees, you’ll have the best chances of spotting the migrating wildebeest and zebra.
There’s also a dedicated children’s programme, swimming pool, Wi-Fi and lounge area.
