Experience one of Africa's greatest natural wonders in The Great Migration with this seven-night wildlife watching adventure across Tanzania's extraordinary Serengeti.
The great Serengeti migration is a breathtaking spectacle, wherein over two million wildebeest, zebra, eland and gazelle search for fresh grasses, travelling south upwards towards the Masai Mara.
The best time to see these great animals calving is between January—March – and again in November and December, when they return from the Masai Mara.
This popular holiday takes you to Tarangire National Park, famous for its baobab trees and huge number of elephants.
Enjoy the beautiful scenes of the breathtaking Lake Manyara National Park, stretching out in front of you along the Rift Valley, the clear blue water meeting with the volcanic peak horizon.
Your guide will then take you on two full days of game viewing in the Central Serengeti, an area rich in game and wildlife year-round.

Itinerary
Day 2 | Tarangire National Park
You'll be met at Kilimanjaro Airport by your private guide.
Set off in your private 4×4 safari vehicle with your driver/guide for the three-to-four-hour journey to Tarangire National Park. Marvel at the towering termite mounds rising like citadels from the red earth of Tarangire. Impressive baobabs dot the plains, antelope step daintily through the grasslands and year-round river elephant sightings are consistently rewarding. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park.
In the late afternoon, exit the park and head up the Rift Valley wall to Karatu, your base for the next two nights. You'll stay at Tloma Lodge, one of the charming lodges that's perfectly situated to take advantage of your surroundings. Have dinner and a retire for a restful night's sleep.
Day 3 | Lake Manyara National Park
We suggest a lie-in and leisurely breakfast for today.
In the mid-morning, set off with your guide for the short drive into Lake Manyara National Park. The prettiest of Tanzania’s National Parks, Manyara is largely made up of a vast soda lake, which attracts hundreds of species of bird. Elegant flamingos tip toe in the shimmering waters, ever entertaining warthogs dart around with their tails erect like little aerials and hippos do what they do best: wallow. Tuck into a picnic lunch in the park.
Return to Tloma Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 | Central Serengeti
Depart after breakfast to ascend the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater, skirting the crater rim and then descending down the western slope and onto the Serengeti Plains.
You're based here for three nights at Asanja Camp, a permanent camp perfectly located in the Central Serengeti area, allowing for year-round game viewing.
Enjoy dinner before sleeping to the sounds of the nocturnal wildlife around you.
Day 5 - 6 | Central Serengeti
Spend two full days on safari in the Central Serengeti area. Set off with picnic lunches each day for uninterrupted game-drives or let your guide know if you'd prefer to return to camp for lunch.
Many film crews choose this time of year (January—March and November) to shoot wildlife documentaries as game viewing in the Central Serengeti during migration and calving season is truly exceptional. The female wildebeest are drawn to this area by its particular grasses; they're high in calcium and magnesium, essential for calving and milk production.
Wildebeest calving can begin anytime between January—March. More than 750,000 females will drop their calves usually within a three-week period of time, so predator versus prey activity is at a peak.
