Experience Highlights

  • Duration: 4 hours

Have a member of the Uganda Carnivore/Lion Monitoring Programme join you in your vehicle for a unique wildlife experience that focuses mainly on the lions of Queen Elizabeth National Park. During this activity, you help to track the carnivores via radio-telemetry in order to monitor their movements into conflict ‘hot zones’, where they face the danger of encountering resident people and livestock. You will learn how the results help to formulate recommendations for appropriate management of carnivores in the national park, and you learn how this assists the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) in conflict mitigation, as well as wildlife rescue and relocation operations. You will also learn about the importance of involving community-based activities to increase local participation in wildlife conservation.
