Norman Carr Safaris was established by the renowned conservationist, is celebrating 60 years of wildlife safaris in the South Luangwa this year. Norman Carr pioneered the walking safari in the 1950s, and was recognised for his extraordinary commitment to the conservation of this fabulous wilderness area, for the quality of his guiding and for his relationship with the local community. Many of today’s Norman Carr Safari guides were trained by Norman Carr himself, and NCS’s Abraham Banda won the safari guide of the year award in December 2009. Norman Carr Safaris has Kapani Lodge and five intimate, individual bush camps Chinzombo, Luwi, Kakuli, Mchenja and Nsolo. All offer the opportunity to explore the bush on foot, escorted by an armed scout and safari guide.
If you are after the ultimate walking safari experience, we can recommend walking along the Luwi River from Luwi Bush Camp to Nsolo, continuing along the course of the river to Kakuli and ending with the bush luxury of Mchenja Bush Camp. Ask us for a tailor-made walking safari itinerary to suit your individual interests – and the time of year.
