Visitors to the wonderful Kirindy Forest now have the choice of accommodation with a very welcome (in spring/summer) swimming pool.
Relais du Kirindy was opened in 2017 and is set adjacent to a Sakalava-Menabe village about 25- 30 minutes' drive from the forest.
Accommodation consists of 20 simple, neat, en-suite bungalows, constructed out of wood and other natural materials. Windows are netted with gauze, so in the very hot weather (September to December), guests can let draughts in without worrying about insects. Each bungalow has a shower and in the front, a private deck with comfortable chairs.
The lodge has a spacious, open-air restaurant where meals served incorporate Malagasy and European-styled dishes. Special dietary requirements are catered for.
A bonus at this lodge its swimming pool, which offers a very welcome respite from the searing tropical heat in the austral spring and summer months.
Electricty: the generator is switched off at 22h30.
