Deep in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica is Peru’s top jungle lodge. Reached by a 45 minute motor boat from Puerto Maldonado, and located within a private reserve, the lodge sits on the banks of the Madre de Dios river and adjacent the Tambopata National Reserve. The lodge offers 35 thatched cabanas and 5 suites, all beautifully appointed. Each has a screened porch with hammock, ceiling fans, mosquito nets and warm water showers. The main house is where guests will find the restaurant, bar, lounge area and a mezzanine overlooking the jungle. One of Latin America’s largest tree top canopy walkway is found at the lodge, perfect for early morning bird watching. During your stay, choose from a variety of shared excursions from jungle hikes, dugout canoe rides, canopy and anaconda walks. There is also a spa on site with river views. 540 bird species have been reported within the grounds, and monkeys, toucans, macaws, caiman and the giant river otter are amongst those spotted nearby.
