Found in the remote east corner of the Serengeti, Namiri Plains promises to be an incredible safari experience.
Until opening in the summer of 2014, the area surrounding Namiri Plains was closed to visitors for the past 20 years creating a safe haven for cheetahs and a big cat population. Namiri Plains was created for safari enthusiasts looking for superb comfort in a true wilderness which has been kept in a pristine condition.
The eight tents are pitched in the shade of giant acacia trees, with 360° views from each of the stunning plains, river banks and the wildlife. This is an excellent observation spot to watch the cheetah, lion and leopard, and you could spend hours admiring these wonderful vistas.
The spacious tents offer beautifully decorated comfort with a snug bed, a well-stocked bar and en suite, with flush toilets and super-soaking bucket showers. With at least 15 metres between each tent, and the closest neighbouring camp a 45 minute drive away, you will have a tranquil feeling of complete seclusion when you are relaxing in-between and after you day safari activities.
Safari activities include game drives and walking safaris as well as sunrise breakfast picnics on top of Soit Le Motonyi rock or sundowners on top of a kopje. The game viewing is brilliant all year round with the camp’s top quality guides on hand with all their fascinating expertise.
It is also along the route of the Great Migration, and the rains from October to May bring lush grass to the plains which attracts wildebeest in their thousands. From December to January, as the big cats descend on the abundance of prey, the land becomes centre stage for the explosive show of prey versus predator. Whenever you visit Namiri Plains, you are guaranteed a thrilling and dynamic safari experience whilst staying in the utmost comfort.
