Staying at   Lion Camp
On safari in the South Luangwa. The meandering Luangwa River, with its ox bow lagoons and dead-end tributaries, supports one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa. Enormous herds of elephant and buffalo coexist with 14 species of antelope, including the rare roan and sable antelope and the striking Thornycrofts Giraffe is just one of the valley's endemic sub-species. The waterways contain large populations of hippo and crocodiles and numerous crocodile and hippo inhabit the river and waterways, while leopard, lion, caracal, and serval prey on the abundant herbivores - South Luangwa claims to have one of the highest densities of leopard in Africa. Birds are a major attraction, with over 420 recorded species. Observing the storks and herons feeding on the fish in the shrinking pools is quite an experience.
Staying at   Lion Camp
After the morning game drive and breakfast, you will be transferred to Mfuwe via Lusaka for the light aircraft flight to the Lower Zambezi. As you fly in, you will see the islands dotting the expanse of the Zambezi River, and probably spot elephant, buffalo and pods of hippo resting on the edge of the sandbanks. Transfer to Chongwe River Camp for a 3-night stay in a double chalet, all meals, park fees and early morning and late afternoon scheduled safari game drives included.
On safari in the Lower Zambezi The Lower Zambezi National Park is a beautiful, pristine 4,000-sqaure kilometre wilderness area of riverine forests, broad flood plain and woodlands in the hills below the escarpment along the northern end of the valley (which acts as a physical barrier to most of the animals). It is distinguished not only by its tranquillity, wildlife and fantastic tiger fishing, but by the variety of safari experiences: game-viewing on game drives, walking, boat and canoe safaris. Elephant and buffalo are common, and often graze on the islands of the Zambezi River. Bushbuck, waterbuck, eland, kudu, zebra and wildebeest are prey for leopard, spotted hyena and wild dog. Great herds of buffalo attrat large prides of lion. The Lower Zambezi is rich in waders and kingfishers, eagles, storks and bee-eaters are among the over 375 recorded species.
Staying at   Chongwe River Camp
After the morning game drive and breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for the light aircraft flight to Livingstone via Lusaka.
