Anyone who has experienced the joys of juggling the paraphernalia of travelling with kids will appreciate this two-centre family-friendly Cape Town and Garden Route holiday. Look forward to minimal unpacking and repacking and a relaxed pace of daily explorations, returning to your luxurious base at day's end.

You are based five nights each at just two well-located family friendly properties, the V&A Hotel in Cape Town’s vibrant Waterfront area and The Fancourt Country Club, gateway to the Garden Route. The last night on the Spier Wine Estate, a short distance from Cape Town Airport, allows for a relaxed final day.

In Cape Town explore the iconic sights on the Hop-on Hop-off bus, ascend Table Mountain, see Nelson Mandela's prison home on Robben Island,  watch street performers, visit the enchanting penguin colony at Boulders Beach, the aquarium and gemstone scratchpatch.... all within easy reach of your hotel.

Based at Fancourt set off on daily trips getting up close to birdlife on walkways at the Birds of Eden or the hysterical monkey antics of Monkeyland and spot elephant at nearby Gondwana Game Reserve.  You could even ride one of the biggest birds in the world at The Cango Ostrich Farm or wild-cat encounters at the Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre.  Add to this hanging out at the well equipped Kids Club and Teens Club at Fancourt, making your own pizza in the pizza oven, cave exploring at The Cango Caves, picking delicious strawberries or a leisurely walk through the lush, ancient Tsitsikamma Forest.  Your family holiday is set.

Itinerary

Depart early evening from London Heathrow on a direct overnight flight to Cape Town. Contact us for regional UK flights at little or no additional cost.
Arrive early morning. You will be met and transferred to the V&A Waterfront to check in at the V&A Hotel. The Victoria & Alfred Hotel is set in the heart of the famous Waterfront in Cape Town and enjoys spectacular views of the working harbour and Table Mountain. With its elegant colonial ambiance, the hotel is named after the Queen of England and her son, who visited the Cape in 1870. Stay 5 nights in a piazza-facing room (families of 3) or two loft rooms (families of 4)
Your Group D Honda Jazz (or similar) will be dropped off at the hotel. Explore Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula at your leisure. There is so much to do in Cape Town for families. The V & A Waterfront is a hub of retail outlets, designer stores, excellent restaurants and craft markets and also includes tourist highlights like the Two Oceans Aquarium, Robben Island Ferries, ocean adventures, helicopter flips, the Iziko Maritime Museum and much more.
Depart Cape Town travelling over Sir Lowry’s Pass or along the scenic route via Gordons Bay and Hermanus to George, gateway to the Garden Route. This leisurely 5 – 6 hour journey brings you to Fancourt Hotel and Country Club. Exclusive full 5-star service and catering for the whole family, hotel facilities include the Montagu Bar and Library, the Club Lounge, four restaurants, an indoor and outdoor heated pool, a Spa and fitness centre, hair salon, jewellery shop and jogging trail. Golfers can T-off at The Montagu and Outeniqua Championship Parklands Courses and The Links Course. There are two 'pro' shops as well as a Golf Academy. The Fancourt Kids Club offers fully supervised, fun activities for children aged 3 - 10 years including arts and crafts, indoor jungle gym, toys, nature walks and board games. During the school holidays kids can enjoy an hourly programme of events. Children under the age of 3 years must be accompanied by an adult/babysitter. Qualified, experienced babysitters can be arranged at nominal additional cost. The Fancourt Teen Lounge is decorated in funky orange and lime green with comfortable couches, WiFi stations, PlayStation units, table tennis, pool table and table football to keep the younger guests entertained. It's the perfect place to chill-out. This is an unsupervised area. Additional children’s activities include an outdoor jungle gym - fully fenced, with two wooden jungle gyms and much more - indoor heated swimming pool and baby pool, a big-screen cinema showing a selection of over 50 movies, tennis courts (tennis rackets for hire and coaching available), all size bicycles for hire and a children’s Golf Academy with lessons for kids aged 7 years and up (golf clubs available as well as half hour or full hour golf tuition). Stay 5 nights in a one-bedroom suite at Fancourt Hotel with breakfast included. The suite accommodates up to 2 children under 12 years on a sleeper couch in the lounge area.
All within an easy hours drive of the Fancourt, families will find a staggering array of activities including bungi-jumping (try the highest bungi jump in the world!), quad biking, hot air ballooning, rock climbing and abseiling, hang gliding, paragliding, sky-diving, surfing great waves, water rafting and paddling. The family can meet a cheetah face to face, see the Big-5, walk with elephants, whale watch, skip with dolphins, do deep sea fishing, take a Huey helicopter ride, hike and mountain bike. There's also caving, horse riding and more. The Garden Route boasts some of the world’s most pristine wilderness hikes, kloofing, and long distance trails.
Farewell to Fancourt as you return towards Cape Town. We suggest the alternative scenic route via the R62, culminating in the spectacular Franschhoek Pass which brings you into the valleys of the Cape’s famed winelands region. Stay 1 night at Spier Estate in a suite with breakfast included. The suite accommodates up to 2 children under 12 years on a sleeper couch in the lounge area.
Day at leisure. Early evening drop off your hire car at Cape Town Airport and check in for direct overnight flight to the UK.
Arrive back at London Heathrow in the early morning.
