Kenya, as well as being packed with some of Africa’s best wildlife destinations and idyllic beaches circled by coral reefs, is a pioneer in providing visitors with sustainable holiday options. This itinerary combines three nights at the Karen Blixen Camp in the famed Masai Mara, your days filled with thrilling game activities ,before heading over to the enchanting Waterlovers Beach Resort for five nights relaxing on the beach. The perfect mix of exceptional game viewing and tranquil hammocks swinging in the sea breeze.

A founding member of the Mara North Conservancy protecting 30,000 hectares of the beautiful Masai Mara ecosystem and raising over $2 million for the Maasia community, the Karen Blixen Camp is committed to providing an exquisite safari experience through responsible tourism. One of the most populated wildlife areas within the Masai Mara, your game activities across the Mara North Conservancy will be overflowing with animal sightings. Home to Leopard Gorge, a vital birthing and maternity ground for big cats, and Lemek Hills, a refuge for the highly threatened African wild dogs, you will get the opportunity to see the rarer animals of the plains.

From here you will travel to Waterlovers Beach Resort, a quaint beach bolthole filled with East African charm. This intimate hotel is an active member of Ecotourism Kenya and aims to help preserve the stunning environment through responsible tourism practices. No plants or trees were cut down during the construction of the hotel, the building intertwining with the surrounding flora. The neighbouring animals live in the grounds of the hotel, the colobus monkey, bush baby and a variety of birds swinging and flying from the trees.

Itinerary

Depart from London Heathrow on your direct overnight flight to Nairobi. Flights from your regional airport are available too, often for the same or lower fares.
On arrival you will be transferred to the domestic airport for your light aircraft flight into the Masai Mara. Your game viewing will begin on your drive to Karen Blixen Camp. Settle into your luxury canvas tent where you will spend your next 3 nights, surrounded by the arresting scenery and peaceful ambience from your private wooden veranda. Enjoy your evening looking over the bank of Mara River from the comfort of your armchair, watching as the wild animals congregate around the mineral rich soil and river water. With the local hippo pod wallowing in the mud, dozens of elephants gulping down water and playfully spraying each other, the area’s wildlife crowd provides endless entertainment. All meals, local drinks and unlimited safari activities included.
Spend your days delighting in the rugged, untouched and beautiful wilderness of the Mara North Conservancy. Traditional game drives, in both the morning and evening, will have an exclusive and private atmosphere to them due to the controlled vehicle density. Tackle the savannas on foot with armed guides on a game walk, learn about the diverse catalogue of birds and insects on a nature walk or take to the sky on a balloon safari for a breathtaking experience. While these activities show you to the nature of the land community trips to the local Maasia Manyatta, visiting the school, market and church, will give you a strong and insightful understanding of the Maasia people and their rich heritage.
Make the most of your last morning in this bewitching ecosystem with one more game activity, before returning to the camp for lunch. Take an afternoon flight from the reserve to the airstrip of Ukunda, with a quick transfer to the Waterlovers Beach Resort. Found along the pristine Diani beach your cottage has a private veranda for you to take in the dazzling Indian Ocean views, listening to the crashing waves, before enjoying the freshest seafood in the Tides restaurant. Spend the next 5 nights here with all meals included.
Spend your last days in Kenya unwinding and relaxing in this peaceful beach resort. There is a wealth of beach activities. The 25 kilometres of Diani coastline and the winds create the ideal conditions for kite and windsurfing. The staff is on hand to help you make the most of your stunning surroundings including a water safari on a traditional dhow, visiting the Kisite Marine Park to spot the dolphins and take a boat out to explore the tropical seabeds, the reef just 10 mintues from the beach. For city explorers, visit Mombasa for a walk through the ancient streets of the old town.
Today leave behind beach life for Mombasa Airport for a flight to Nairobi where you will board your overnight flight to London.
Early morning arrival back home.
