When looking for a genuine, authentic African experience, nothing quite compares to a holiday in Kenya. The remarkable game conservancy and national parks, filled with unadulterated wildlife encounters, and a coastline of pristine beaches are two of the many reasons we love Kenya.

During your time in Kenya you will be staying in three Saruni lodges, one of the most loved and respected lodge companies in Kenya. Taking you off the beaten track, your incredible six night safari will transport you to the north and south of Kenya, to two very diverse and different game reserves; Samburu and Maasai Mara. The lodges are small and intimate, an authentic safari stay with incredible guiding and hospitality from the Samburu and Maasai guides and staff. A special, cultural experience you will remember fondly for years to come.

Your adventure starts with a stay in the Saruni Samburu, found in Kalama which borders with the vast acres of unspoiled wilderness which is Samburu. One of their six eco-luxury villas is a charming home whilst you enjoy your exclusive safari. The panoramic views from the dining and lounge area will fill you with excited anticipation as you look over the vast and pure landscape you will spend the next three days exploring.

The dramatic desert scrub, savannahs, forests and mountains of Kenya’s Northern District hold a diverse range of big game, big cats and, unique to the region, the ‘Samburu Big Five’; Grevy's zebra; the long-necked gerenuk; reticulated giraffe; besia oryx; and Somali ostrich.

Your next safari destination is the Masai Mara and one of the five elegant cottages of the Saruni Mara. Neatly tucked in a secluded valley and enclosed by the dramatic scenery, this is the smallest permanent lodge to be found in the Mara ecosystem. One of the most densely populated wildlife areas within this iconic ecosystem, the Mara North Conservancy holds great numbers of elephant, zebra, gazelle and impala. Prides of lion and numbers of the solitary cheetah and the elusive leopard have all made this monumental land their home.

The perfect finish to any African adventure is a blissful beach break, a wonderful complement to your time spent in the rugged wilderness. Spend four nights at the Hemmingway's Watamu. Idyllically placed on Watamu Beach, this lovely hotel offers all the classic beach activities in the dazzling surroundings of the Kenyan coastline.

Itinerary

Depart the UK for your overnight flight to Nairobi. On arrival you will be met and transfer to the charming suburb of Karen and check into the lovely House of Waine for an overnight stay with breakfast included.
After breakfast this morning you will be taken to the Nairobi Wilson Airport in time to board the light aircraft flight at 10h20. On arrival into Samburu at 11h30 you will be met by the camp 4x4 vehicle and your game viewing starts immediately as you drive towards the lodge. Check into the breath-taking Saruni Samburu Lodge for a three night stay with all meals, local drinks, park and conservancy fees, shared day & night game drives, bush dinners, guided walks, laundry and one 30 minute massage per room per stay included. Head out this afternoon on a game drive traversing the 200,000 acres of the Kalama Conservancy before returning to the lodge for a sumptuous dinner and overnight.
Early morning game drive into the national reserve to try and spot the Special Five of Samburu. Species such as the gerenuk are only endemic to this area of Kenya. Samburu is not lacking in the numbers of game and boasts large populations of elephant, lion and leopards. Enjoy a picnic lunch somewhere scenic – perhaps near the river where you can observe animals coming down to drink and running the gauntlet of crocodile attacks. Return to the lodge early afternoon and decide which of your party is the lucky recipient of the complimentary 30 minute massage.
Staying at   Saruni Samburu
Morning wake up with steaming coffee to start the day before heading out on an early morning game drive. This afternoon you head out on a thrilling nature walk discovering some of the ancient caves in the area with vivid rock paintings. Return to camp and enjoy an evening game drive on the conservancy in the hope of catching sight of some of the nocturnal animals before enjoying a bush dinner under the stars whilst the Samburu Warriors keep you safe.
Staying at   Saruni Samburu
Check out this morning and you will be driven back to the airstrip in time to catch your flight at 09h30 to the Masai Mara. On landing around 11h00 you will be greeted with a welcome drink at the airstrip before heading off on your first game drive in this amazing conservancy. A picnic lunch has been arranged for you to be enjoyed under an Acacia tree before heading to camp. Check into the equally wonderful sister property Saruni Mara Camp for a three night stay with all meals, local drinks, park and conservancy fees, shared day & night game drives, bush dinners, laundry and one 30 minute massage per room per stay included. Afternoon to relax.
Morning game drive in this large conservancy which is 30,000 acres and game rich with all of the Big 5. The conservancy is particularly well known for its big cats and the chances of spotting lion, leopard and cheetah. Return to the camp for lunch and the fight begins again as to whom gets to experience the 30 minute massage. Late afternoon you will explore a different area of the conservancy and if you wish you can enjoy and optional night drive.
Staying at   Saruni Mara Camp
Full day of game drives in the national reserve learning first-hand about more about this fragile eco-system and what makes this one of the world’s most iconic parks. On returning to the conservancy and weather permitting you will enjoy a final bush dinner with Maasai Warriors singing and dancing around the fire.
Staying at   Saruni Mara Camp
This morning you will get to visit the rhino sanctuary in Mara north before being taken to the airstrip for the afternoon flight at 14h00 to the south coast. On landing at Malindi airport at around 16h00 you will be met and taken to Watamu and check into Hemmingways Watamu. Check into a villa for a four night stay with dinner and breakfast included. Enjoy the freshest seafood caught that day before retiring for the night.
Days relaxing on this little piece of paradise. This undeveloped bit of the coastline ensures that you enjoy the stunning white beaches without the crowds and you can easily fill you days snorkelling, diving, swimming, sailing or taking advantage of the vast array of treatments at the spa.
Staying at   Hemingways Watamu
After a relaxing morning, you will be transferred back to Malindi for your flight over to Wilson Airport. Here you will be met and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your overnight flight home.
Today you will arrive back in to the UK
