If a 'sun-lounger' holiday is not your thing, this exciting two-week tour of South Africa's KwaZulu Natal, packed with outdoor activities and excursions, might rock your boat. This trip takes you high into the Drakensberg on the Lesotho border, through the famous 1879 Zulu War battlefields, on safari in Zulu King Shaka's former hunting grounds, and ends with three days at the stunningly beautiful Oysterbox Hotel in Durban.

Itinerary

Depart this evening on your flight to Durban.
Today you will collect your car hire and drive to your first hotel in the picturesque Drakensberg for a three night stay at Montusi Mountain lodge. Enjoy stunning views over the Drakensberg as well as the variety of activities on offer.
Drive east to the Battlefields to stay three nights at comfortable Fugitives Drift Guest House, on the reserve only 5 minutes from the main lodge with just 6 rooms each with private veranda, grouped around an old farmhouse, set in lovely gardens with a peaceful atmosphere. Here there are fascinating tours to the nearby battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift, as well as to Dingaan's Kraal and the Zulu -Valley of the Kings.
Learn about the fascinating history of the wars that were fought in this area.
Travel up to Hluhluwe today where you will spend the next 3 nights with all meals and safari activities included. Hlluhluwe is well known in South Africa for its amazing game viewing.
Your time here is focusing on safari game drives. The reserve has been cleared of alien species and restored to its natural equilibrium. Look for wild dog, cheetah, giraffe, rhino, buffalo and elephant.
As well as the twice daily game drives, Rhino Ridge has a superb viewing deck that offers views over the reserve and wildlife within it.
Drive back to Durban today for your relaxing three night stay at the beautiful Oyster Box Hotel. Here you will have some award winning food as well as spa treatments. The setting of The Oyster Box hotel is superb, watch the waves crashing over as you sip on a lovely cocktail in the bar.
Drive to Durban - King Shaka International airport for your direct flight out and back into London.
