This 9 day itinerary will take you to unforgettable locations in southern Malawi. On arrival off your flight into Blantyre, you will be met and transferred to Mvuu Camp in Liwonde National Park, the premier wildlife hotspot of Malawi. Enjoy big game viewing while in this beautifully appointed camp overlooking a lagoon and the Shire River, followed by rest and relaxation time at Mumbo Island Camp just off the Cape Maclear Peninsula.

Itinerary

Depart from London Heathrow or selected other UK airports if flying from UK, on your overnight flight to Blantyre.
Arrive in the morning at Blantyre airport. You will be met and transferred by road (3 – 4 hour drive time) to Liwonde National Park for your 3- night stay at the lovely Mvuu Lodge with all meals, park fees and safari activities included. Liwonde National Park is fairly small in comparison to many national parks in Malawi. However it is one of the most popular national parks, with good reason. There are large numbers of elephant, hippo, reedbuck, waterbuck, and sable antelope along the river. For birding enthusiasts, the species list exceeds 400 of the country’s 650 species. Predators present include leopard (rarely seen) and spotted hyena. As with all the properties we feature in Malawi, Mvuu lodge provides a high level of comfort to travellers visiting a remote African outpost. Mvuu camp's wonderful location allows for activities including river safaris, nature walks, morning and night game drives as well as an opportunity to visit the Rhino sanctuary within the reserve (for the latter, a special permit is required)
After checking out of Mvuu Camp, you will be transferred to Cape Maclear by road (3 – 4 hour drive time) where you will spend the next 3 nights at Mumbo Island Camp with all meals, as well as snorkeling and kayaking included. Lake Malawi's clear fresh waters make this a wonderful place at which to spend a few days. The lodge is situated on a private island in the world’s first freshwater national park. The 7 luxury tents are perched on boulders above clear waters. Each tent has a shaded deck with its own hammock: eco-architecture is the key to the lodge's design and solar energy is the main source of power. Spend your days kayaking, snorkeling, diving or just relaxing in the hammock.
Road transfer to Lilongwe for your last night before your return flight the next day. Spend the night at Heuglin’s Lodge with breakfast included.
You will be transferred to Lilongwe Airport for your flight journey home.
