Walking in the South Luangwa is the best reason to come to Zambia, and no-one does it better than the Coppinger's Remote Africa team and their Chikoko Trails. If wide open spaces and the luxury of being the only people for miles is your idea of romance, this could be a perfect fit.

Itinerary

A seven-night trip begins with 3 nights at Tafika Camp. You then immerse yourself in the sights, scents and sounds of the bush on the walking trails, staying 2 nights at Chikoko Tree Camp and 2 nights at Crocodile Camp.

These bush camps are simple, intimate and comfortable, with en suite showers and flush loos. Big game encounters with buffalo and elephant are common.

Itinerary

Depart from London Heathrow on overnight flight to Nairobi
Connect with onward morning flight to Lusaka. On arrival make your way to departures for the one-hour light aircraft flight to Mfuwe. On arrival into Mfuwe you will be met by a local representative and transferred 2 hours to Tafika Camp. Stay for three nights in a spacious chalet with all meals, local beverages and scheduled game activities included. This camp has a remote location on the banks of the Luangwa River in the South Luangwa National Park. The camp is nestled below huge Leadwood trees and has incredible views of the river. You activities here will be a mixture of walking safaris, cycling trails and day and night game drives. Additional activities that can be enjoyed at an additional cost are micro light flights and local village and school visits.
Staying at   Tafika Camp
The next 4 nights are spent at the walking camps, Chikoko Tree and Crocodile River Camps. These unique bush camps are only accessible on foot so you will get to experience a very different and more intimate bush experience. Your first two nights will be spent at Chikoko Tree Camp in open fronted chalets. Your days start off with a leisurely four hour walk with a break for some tea/coffee on an open fire. The ground is flat but sometimes uneven. Return mid-morning with time to relax and have lunch. In the afternoon set of on a shorter walk, returning by dusk for dinner.
From Chikoko Tree Camp walk to Crocodile River Camp for your final two nights. Crocodile Camp is built on an old river bank overlooking a large, dry lagoon. This is primarily a walking camp, however a vehicle based at the lodge offers access to new walking areas further afield.
Farewells to your hosts and guides and transfer to Mfuwe Airport for your light aircraft to Lusaka. On arrival connect onto the Kenya Airways flight to London via Nairobi.
Arrive into London Heathrow early this morning.
