For those looking for something a bit different, try this 'off the beaten track' itinerary that incorporates two of the most popular game reserves in Southern Tanzania, here we take you to the Nyerere Selous Game Reserve (recently renamed Nyerere) and Ruaha National Park, where you can explore the bush on thrilling morning and afternoon game drives, by guided safari walks and on seasonal safari boat trips. Finally, you will escape to the secluded and remote Fanjove Island for some time on the beach at an idyllic stretch of the Tanzanian coast where you can snorkel and kayak or laze around with a book.

Itinerary

Depart from London on overnight flight to Dar es Salaam via Nairobi. Your first night will be near the airport at Dar Es Salaam, ready for an early start to the game reserves.
On arrival you will be transferred by light aircraft into the Nyerere / Selous Game Reserve for a 3 night stay at Siwandu Camp, all meals, scheduled morning and afternoon game viewing activities and park fees included.
Morning and afternoon game viewing activities are in specially adapted, open four-wheel drive vehicles or cruising the rivers watching animals come down to the waters edge from sturdy metal boats and a covered canopy for your comfort, all with expert well trained guides. An early morning guided walk is highly recommended, getting close to nature and giving a fascinating look into the smaller things on the ground. For the more adventurous there is the possibility of an optional 1 or 2 night overnight fly camping.
Staying at   Siwandu Camp
Light aircraft flight into Ruaha National Park for a 3 night stay at Jongomero Camp, all meals, scheduled morning and afternoon game viewing activities and park fees included.
Game drives are the order of the day here, conducted in the morning and afternoon in open 4x4 vehicles . An early morning guided walk is must and optional 1 or 2 night overnight fly camping.
Light aircraft flight to Songo Songo via Dar es Salaam followed by a boat transfer to Fanjove Island for the next 3 nights with all meals and activities included.
After a heavy safari schedule, some quiet time on the Tanzania coast is a perfect way to unwind. However for those not content with wiling away the day with a swim, good book or long walks on deserted beaches, there is much to do. Activities include nearby snorkelling with equipment provided, kayaks to explore the fresh water lagoon, boogie board in the surf, the coastal forest behind the lodge is home to 132 different species of trees and four species of monkey and visits to the local village giving an insight into Swahili life today.
Return flight to Dar es Salaam for return overnight flight to London via Nairobi
