Itinerary
Day 2 | Johannesburg to Garonga Safari Camp
On arrival at Johannesburg Airport, you'll make your way to an onward flight to Hoedspruit. From here, you'll be transferred by road to Garonga Safari Lodge in the Makalali Conservancy for a three night stay, with all meals and scheduled game viewing activities included.
'Safari for the Soul' is Garonga's philosophy, offering an unhurried and intimate wildlife encounter, leaving you time to reflect and find inspiration in nature. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives, wilderness walks with an experienced guide, sleep-outs, outdoor bush-baths and optional aromatherapy and reflexology sessions.
Day 3 | Garonga Safari Camp
An early start is the norm while at Garonga. Warm up with a cup of tea or coffee before heading straight out on your first morning safari. Game viewing is great here. Your professional ranger will be your eyes and ears, looking out for the elusive leopard, a herd of elephant and pride of lions. Return to camp for some relaxation, read a book in your hammock or take a refreshing dip in the pool.
Lunch or a late brunch is normally served on the deck. In the late afternoon, you'll board the 4×4 safari vehicle for an evening game drive. So, keep your eyes peeled and seek out the smaller creatures such as chameleons or birds.
Day 4 | Garonga Safari Camp
You have the freedom of joining this morning's game drive or, if you wish, have a lie in and listen to monkeys scampering about in the trees above.
A second game drive takes place in the late afternoon. Today you may wish to have a romantic open-air bush bath, a Victorian style tub set in a secluded spot. Tonight you can 'sleep out', an optional activity where you sleep under the stars on a platform high up in the trees, a true wilderness adventure.
Day 5 | Garonga Safari Camp to Johannesburg
After a morning game drive and breakfast, you'll be transferred by road to Hoedspruit Airport for a flight to Johannesburg.
On arrival, take the shuttle to Peermont D'oreale Grande Hotel for a one-night stay, with breakfast included.
Day 6 | Johannesburg to Mauritius
Today, you'll fly off to the paradise island of Mauritius. Here, you'll stay at Hotel 20 Degrés Sud for six nights with breakfast and dinner included.
The hotel is set in the heart of a coconut grove near Grand Baie. The hotel offers a fantastic range of restaurants and facilities to choose from. Today, you might want to just chill out by the pool and reflect back on your incredible safari experience in South Africa.
Day 7 - 11 | Mauritius
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast while taking in the views across the Indian Ocean. Hotel 20 Degrés Sud offers a fabulous range of activities. So, seize the moment and enjoy anything from a round of golf on the championship courses, kite surfing or - for something a little more gentle - a massage or spa treatment.
The island of Mauritius has much to offer both on land and water, too. One example is an optional sailing tour by catamaran. A cruise on the west coast often rewards you with sightings of dolphins frolicking in the water. There are a variety of day tours you can choose to do. Ask your consultant for options.
The island is also famous for its long, white sandy beaches and its stunningly beautiful landscapes. Take an optional full day tour or hire a car to explore the southwest corner of the island. Here, you'll see Chamarel Waterfall and the geological site of the Chamarel seven coloured earth, where different coloured earth was created as volcanic rock cooled at different temperatures.
Other attractions of the area include the huge, natural volcanic crater of Trou Aux Cerfs and Le Morne, an enormous monolith at the extreme southwestern tip of Mauritius.
