Discover one of the world’s last untamed corners of the world on safari in Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania before heading to Zanzibar for a seven night stay of blissful leisure in the Indian Ocean, all for exceptional value.

Selous Game Reserve is one of Tanzania’s seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This 45,000 km2 of natural wilderness is rich in diverse flora and fauna, a pristine sanctuary that is brimming with wildlife. While on safari you may see elephants, buffalos and lions, as well as other animals from giraffes to cheetahs, hippos and crocodiles.

Over 350 species of bird and a third of the world’s population of the rare wild dog make Selous Game Reserve their home. Leave behind the rugged nature for the escapism of island life on Zanzibar. Although its popularity as the best beach location in East Africa has grown over the years, Zanzibar has managed to keep its African charm. Explore the island at your leisure.

Itinerary

Depart from London Heathrow or selected other UK airports (if flying from UK) on an overnight flight to Dar es Salaam .
On arrival you will be met and taken to the domestic terminal for your light aircraft flight to Selous Game Reserve. Once you have landed at the airstrip you will be met by the camp vehicle and thrown straight into the adventure of a game drive on route to Serena Mivumo River Lodge, your romantic hideaway for the next four nights. Spend the evening relaxing in comfort, surrounded by the astonishing nature, enjoyed from your private deck equipped with loungers and river views. The seclude rooms are widely spaced from each other and in the depths of the wilderness, you will feel as if you are the only two there discovering Africa’s last frontier together. Your stay will include all meals and local drinks along with the activities of daily game drives, a river cruise, bush walk, bird walk and a bush breakfast.
Spend the next three days immersing yourself in the intriguing nature of this magnificent reserve. Travel along the lifeline of the reserve surrounded by animals, the Rufiji River; grazing antelopes keeping an eye out for snapping crocodiles, snorting hippos happily wallowing, wild dogs scampering up for a drink, prides of lions relaxing in the sun and if you’re lucky catching sight of a lioness darting after a buffalo for her cubs next meal. Home to the largest concentration of elephants, the sight of these huge animals migrating as one across the grasslands is an incredible sight. Enjoy this marvellous authentic safari across the rolling savannahs, open grasslands, riverine forests and swamps of an unspoilt piece of Africa.
Today you will enjoy your last game activity in the morning before being transferred to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to the Spice Island of Zanzibar. Check into the comfortable Shooting Star Lodge and a Seaview Cottage for a six night stay with dinner and breakfast included.
Enjoy rest & relaxation time in Zanzibar - or, venture out and explore some of the island's sites such as Jozani Forest.
Today you will be transferred to Zanzibar Airport for your return overnight flight journey back to London Heathrow or selected other UK airports, if flying back to UK
This morning, arrive back into London Heathrow or selected other UK airports, if flying to the UK
