For first timers to Africa after a remarkable wildllife and beach experience, visit the Mountain gorillas in Uganda; seek the famed 'tree-climbing' lions and other wildlife in Queen Elizabeth National Park and then fly to Zanzibar for a beach break based at Kichanga.

Itinerary

Depart from London Heathrow on the overnight Kenya Airways*** flight to Entebbe via Nairobi. ***This sample itinerary is based on Kenya Airways, but if you prefer to fly on another carrier, we'll be happy to tailor your itinerary accordingly.
On arrival into Entebbe Airport early this morning, you will be welcomed and transferred to the Boma Guest House for a 1 night stay with breakfast included. You will be taken on a trip to Mabamba Swamp, where there is a good chance of seeing the dinosaur-like Shoebill, pictured below. (We have done this and loved it, as have many previous guests). Alternatively, take a stroll around the Entebbe Botanical Gardens - or, if culture is your thing, we can arrange for you to visit Kampala - call us to chat about options.
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your light aircraft flight to Queen Elizabeth National Park for two days of game viewing around the Ishasha sector of the park. On arrival you will be met by your professional and knowledgeable Ugandan English speaking driver and guide who will be with you for the next four nights, transporting you in your private, comfortable 4-wheel-drive vehicle for the duration of your time in the Pearl of Africa. Stay two nights at the highly rated and beautifully located Ishasha Wilderness Camp, all meals included.
Enjoy a day of wildlife watching in the quintessential African bush setting with the lovely riverside Ishasha Wilderness Tented Camp, as your base.
After breakfast by the riverside, take a game drive out of Ishasha and head southwards to the lush, verdant Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you stay for 2 nights at the comfortable Buhoma Lodge, all meals included. The drive takes about 3hrs,30min today and along the way, your driver-guide can enlighten you about Ugandan culture as you pass by villages and rural homesteads.
Very few wildlife experiences can compare with the thrill and intensity of spending time observing a habituated group of Mountain gorilla, and that is what's on the agenda for today. After an early start with a briefing at the park HQ, depart with your scout and trackers to one of the resident, habituated gorilla families, where you can spend an hour with them. While you do not need to be an athlete for gorilla tracking, time taken to reach these magnificent primates varies considerably - it can be as quick as 45 minutes, or, it can take a few hours to reach them. Terrain in Bwindi does include some arduous slopes, so a reasonable level of fitness is necessary. (During your briefing, you can enlist the services of excellent and very helpful porters, for a nominal extra charge).
Your driver-guide will transfer you to the Kihihi airstrip, where you board a light aircraft flight back to Entebbe and connect with your regional Kenya Airways afternoon flight to Zanzibar (via Nairobi). On arrival into Zanzibar this evening, you will be welcomed by our representatives and transferred by road to Zanzibar Palace for an overnight stay in a suite with breakfast included.
This morning you will be met by your English speaking guide who will take you on a walking tour of enchanting Stone Town. You will then be transferred by road to Kichanga Lodge for a 4 night stay in a Garden View Bungalow with breakfast and dinner included.
Chill at the beach or partake in activities such as snorkelling or kite-surfing.
Staying at   Kichanga Lodge
Some more R&R time on Zanzibar
Staying at   Kichanga Lodge
Your last day (unless you wish to extend your beach break) enjoying coastal time in Zanzibar.
Staying at   Kichanga Lodge
After the morning in Zanzibar, you will be transferred to Stone Town where you have sundowners and a rooftop dinner at Emerson Spice at 7pm, and the use of a day/evening room at Seyyida Hotel. In the late evening, you will be collected from Seyyida Hotel and transferred to Zanzibar airport to check in for the Kenya Airways flight departing in the early hours the next morning.
Before 01h00 you will be transferred to Zanzibar Airport to check in for the 03h40 Kenya Airways flight to Nairobi JKIA, where you connect on arrival with the 09h20 Kenya Airways flight to London, arriving back in Heathrow at 16h15 after a wonderful trip!
