Save up to £1000 per person on Antarctic Season departures October 2024 - March 2025. Book before 31 March 2024.

Revel in the glistening beauty of the Antarctica Peninsula on this 15-day adventure with AE Expeditions. Joining your fellow travellers aboard the mighty Greg Mortimer ship, embrace once-in-a-lifetime experiences in this remote land, home to penguins, whales, seals and many more majestic creatures.

After your overnight stay in Ushuaia, Argentina, and some time in the stunning town of Tierra del Fuego, embark Greg Mortimer to kickstart your voyage. Make yourself at home in your cabin as you sail across Drake Passage Crossing towards Antarctica Peninsula for seven full days of discovery.

You can choose how you spend your time in Antarctica, with assistance from your expert guides who can make recommendations based on the weather conditions and wildlife-sighting opportunities. Explore offshore islands and hidden coves on a Zodiac excursion, keeping an eye out for penguin colonies. You can also leave the ship and wander the islands on foot, grazing over the pebbled beaches, or you can brave a polar plunge!

There’s plenty to enrich your experience back on the ship, too. Relax in the lounge or admire the elegant poise of the passing glaciers from the open sundeck. Read all about Antarctica and its surroundings in the cosy library. If you’re looking for something more active, head to the gym for a workout, and then wind down in the sauna.

Itinerary

Touch down in Ushuaia, Argentina, and meet with a representative of AE Expeditions. Take a private transfer with your fellow travellers to your hotel, which will be either Las Hayas Ushuaia Resort or Los Acebos Ushuaia Hotel, for an overnight stay. Both hotels are situated in the beautiful hills of Argentina, overlooking the surrounding mountains. Enjoy free time admiring the sights, relaxing in the sauna, or taking a soothing stroll outside.
Check-out of your hotel in the morning and enjoy some free time in the city of Tierra del Fuego. In the afternoon, meet back in your hotel lobby for a sightseeing tour, headed by your expert guide. First, visit the beautiful La Mision Neighbourhood, the Old Government House, and the upper region of the city for some more incredible views of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel. Venture to the Old Prison Museum for a dose of history before heading back to the pier to board your ship. Once on board, greet your fellow passengers and get settled into your cabin.
Set sail across Drake Passage, the body of water connecting South America’s Cape Horn, Chile, Argentina and the South Shetland Island of Antarctica. You can use this time to get used to make yourself at home on board, exploring all the ship’s facilities and activities. Work out in the gym, relax in the wellness centre or head to the observation deck to admire the passing seabirds.
The Antarctica Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands are yours to explore for the next eight days. Lead by the weather and wildlife opportunities, your experienced expedition team will organise a thrilling itinerary to let you make the most of your visit. Venture to the offshore islands in search of penguin rookeries and historic huts or you can join a Zodiac excursion to search for whales, seals and proposing penguins. On land, trek up the snowy ridgelines to great viewing spots, with mountains looming above and glittery oceans swaying below.
Spend your final morning among the rugged glaciers, towering icebergs and penguin colonies in the South Shetland Islands before heading back to South America. Moving through Drake Passage once again, your on-board guides will deliver riveting lectures and film presentations all about Antarctica. Reflect on your favourite moments of the trip with your peers, storing them safely in your memory to share with family and friends. Depending on the weather conditions, the captain may take you up close to Cape Horn, the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago.
Disembark your ship in Ushuaia and take a private transfer to Ushuaia for your flight back to the UK.
