Explore the highlights of this small but beautiful country on our Blissful Belize example tour. Throughout the itinerary, you immerse yourself in the remote western jungle of the Cayo District in the Belizean interior before ending your trip on the Caribbean coast.

Within the jungle clad interior, you base yourself amidst lush forestry and are surrounded by the rich history of the Mayan civilization. Your high-quality lodge serves up typical Belizean cuisine and offers a range of excursions within the pristine rainforest, with a mixture of wildlife and cultural experiences. Not only that, but if you’re adventurous, activities range from caving to river tubing, horse riding, mountain biking and kayaking. And the ancient Mayan sites you’ll visit include Caracol and Xunantunich, possible from your base on the Macal River.

For the second part of your trip, stay at Ambergris Caye, surrounded by the shimmering waters of the Caribbean. Your accommodation is located on the beaches, where you can choose to relax beside the ocean or by the pool, in addition to getting involved in an array of marine activities. Included in your stay here are snorkelling tours to nearby reefs that teem with tropical multi-coloured fish. Overall, your Belize holiday is an irresistible mix of reef and rainforest.

Itinerary

Take a daytime flight from the UK to the USA on your chosen airline and route. Then overnight at an airport hotel in either Houston, Miami or another US hub before continuing to Belize the following morning.
Return to the airport for the short flight to Belize City. On arrival, you’re collected and taken on a road journey into the jungle clad interior of the country and Cayo District. Your lodge is a palm-thatched cottage nestled along the banks of the Macal River, within a setting of unmatched beauty. The property is located within a 400-acre nature reserve, offering a wide range of exciting activities. On the grounds are a medicinal plants trail, blue morpho butterfly farm, horse stables, organic farm, biking and hiking trails as well as one of the best spas in the entire country. After, enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore the lodge grounds and relax at the pool.
Today is spent at leisure. Explore one of the world's most pristine ecosystems surrounding Chaa Creek Lodge, choosing from several nature trails where you can spot birds and butterflies along the way. Relax by the pool or we can alternatively organise a variety of excursions in the local area – to waterfalls, caves, the botanical gardens and enigmatic Mayan archaeological sites.
Staying at   Chaa Creek Lodge
A brand-new day in the beautiful Cayo District! This morning, you’ll visit the ancient Mayan archaeological site of Caracol. Caracol is the largest set of ruins in Belize, with its towering main pyramid (Caana) rising over 40m above the jungle floor. Closer to your lodge is Xunantunich, a site on the banks of the Mopan River that’s composed of six major plazas, surrounded by more than 25 temples and palaces. Other options today include a gentle kayak through the mysterious Barton Creek Cave system, where you can venture into the dark, winding cave system known as a Mayan underworld.
Staying at   Chaa Creek Lodge
Depart the Cayo District for Belize City before taking a short, scenic flight to Ambergris Caye. For the remainder of your tour, you’re based at a hotel overlooking the sparkling Caribbean waters. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure.
Explore the underwater world on a snorkelling trip to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley. Hol Chan translates to ‘little channel’ in Mayan and is a natural break on the barrier reef where the ocean depth ranges from one to ten metres. Here, you can see a myriad of marine live, including many species of fish, stingrays and manatees. At Shark Ray Alley, you can snorkel with harmless nurse sharks and southern stingrays.
Staying at   Victoria House
Close to the town of San Pedro, Mexico Rocks is an excellent snorkel site for novices. Spot boulder coral, which often grow up to three or four metres high, almost reaching the surface! A huge variety of marine life find refuge here, including colourful butterfly fish, eels, spiny lobsters, stingrays and eels. With the incredible underwater visibility at Mexico Rocks, you can potentially see dramatic canyon walls and caves through the coral formations.
Staying at   Victoria House
Spend the next few days at leisure, finding the time to explore the various snorkelling and swimming sites, among other locally available excursions. Or why not simply relax around your hotel and take advantage of the pool and beach?
Staying at   Victoria House
Lastly, transfer to the airport on Ambergris Caye for your flight to Belize City, before connecting on to your flights back to the UK on your chosen route via the USA.
