The Seychelles comprises 115 islands in the western Indian Ocean. The archipelago extends from between 4 and 10 degrees south of the equator and lies between 480km and 1,600km from the east coast of Africa. Of these 115 islands, 41 constitute the oldest mid-oceanic granite islands on earth while a further 74 form the low-lying coral atolls and reef islands of the Outer Islands.
Remote Desroches is about a 40 minutes flight southwest of Mahé. This exquisite, 8km long, coralline island is fringed by 14km of pristine, white beach merging into the clear turquoise waters of the lagoon. With its encircling reef, the coral rim of the Desroches Drop, and rich marine life, including rare hawksbill turtles, Desroches is known for superb diving, snorkelling and fishing.
To the north of Mahé, Bird and Denis Islands are both just a 30-minute flight away. They are the most northerly of the Seychelles, and situated on the edge of the Seychelles bank which makes them excellent for big-game fishing. Both have beautiful white sand beaches.
North Island is reached by helicopter from Mahé and it is no exaggeration to say that this really is the ultimate in island luxury which a price tag to match! With just 11 stunning, handcrafted villas and a dinning policy of ‘any menu, any venue and any time’ this truly is personalised service.
