Itinerary

Depart from London on your overnight flight to Kilimanjaro Airport via Nairobi.
On arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort - situated close to Kilimanjaro National Park - for a one-night stay, with breakfast and dinner included.
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the Rongai Route. A gentle start to the climb begins from Nale Moru, on a winding path through fields of maize and potatoes to a pine forest. Then the track starts climbing through a forest which shelters wildlife like the black and white Kilimanjaro colobus monkey. Reach your camp, Rongai One, as the forest thins out. Enjoy the extensive views over the Kenyan plains. Today’s walk is between three and four hours long.
Today starts with a steady ascent up to the ‘Second Cave’, which has spectacular views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields on the crater rim. Leave the main trail after a delicious lunch and cross the moorland on a smaller path towards the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. The day ends at Kikelewa campsite, which is in a sheltered valley with giant senecios (genus of the daisy family) near Kikelewa Caves. Today’s walk is between six and seven hours long.
A short, steep climb is rewarded by a magnificent 360° view and tangible sense of true wilderness. Enter the more desolate section of the climb, reaching the next camp at Mawenzi Tarn, which is situated in a cirque directly beneath the spires of Mawenzi. To aid your acclimatisation today, the afternoon will be spent at leisure to take up some rest or perhaps explore the surrounding area. Today’s walk is between three and four hours long.
Cross the lunar-like desert of the ‘Saddle’, between Mawenzi and Kibo, to reach Kibo Campsite at the bottom of the Kibo crater wall. Looking out around you at the spectacular landscapes is a great way to inspire yourself for the final leg of your adventure. The rest of the afternoon is spent in camp preparing for tomorrow’s ascent, so be sure to get in a very early night to conserve your energy for what’s to come. Today’s walk is between five and six hours long.
At 1:00am, start your final and most demanding part of the climb by torchlight. Tread carefully in the dark on a trail through loose volcanic scree to reach the crater rim at Gillman’s Point, where you’ll rest to enjoy the sunrise over Mawenzi. If you’re more energetic, you can opt to make the three-hour round trip to Uhuru Peak, passing close to the glaciers and ice cliffs. Then descend to Kibo and reach Horombo Camp. Today’s walk is between 11 and 15 hours long.
After conquering the ascent of Kilimanjaro, make one final steady descent down through moorland to Mandara Hut, the first stop on the Marangu Route (also known as the ‘Coca-Cola Route’). Then continue to descend through a lovely and lush forest on a good path onwards to the National Park gate at Marangu. Today’s walk is between five and six hours long. Enjoy a one-night stay at Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort, with breakfast and dinner included.
To celebrate your incredible accomplishment together, it’s time to enjoy the rest of your honeymoon relaxing in Zanzibar. Embark on a road transfer to Arusha for your light aircraft flight to Zanzibar Airport. After touching down, take another road transfer to the north of the island for a five-night stay at Pongwe Beach Hotel in a Beachfront Room, with breakfast and dinner included. You also have time to explore Stone Town, the country’s splendid 'spice capital'.
Transfer by road to Stone Town, where you’ll take your flight home via Nairobi.
