Travelling north up the east coast, you will find Pongwe Beach Hotel, a small hotel set on a white sandy beach in its own secluded bay. The clear waters are protected by a reef, and ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
There are just 16 thatched, lime-washed, Zanzibari cottages, simply- furnished with Zanzibari beds, en suite bathrooms, walk in showers, and a private terrace. Thirteen of those are beachfront set in groups of 2’s and 3’s sharing one or two common walls. Three of which are garden view set back approximately 20 metres in a single cluster. In addition to 4 sea view suites in groups of two with ensuite facilities and outside terrace with private plunge pool. All rooms have ceiling fans, free standing fans, mosquito nets, beach and bath towels and mineral water in rooms daily.
Pongwe has a dhow for fishing and snorkelling trips, jeep hire, mountain bikes, kayaks and scuba diving can be arranged at a supplementary cost. There is a set menu offering a range of well-prepared fresh sea- food and local dishes.
Pongwe offers excellent value in a tranquil location; the ideal place to relax and enjoy Zanzibar’s distinctive, mellow pace.
