Itinerary
Day 1 Depart from London Heathrow on dire...
Day 2 Madikwe Game Reserve
Arrive in the early morning and transfer by light aircraft to the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve. On arrival at the airstrip, it is a road transfer to Tuningi Safari Lodge for a four night stay in a family suite with all meals and scheduled shared morning and afternoon game drives.
Tuningi is a child friendly lodge in the big five Madikwe specialising in families with children of all ages. Dependent on behaviour, children from the age of five can join the first game drive with their parents. In addition, there are shorter ‘kiddies bumbles’ after breakfast. Formal activities are arranged which include nature treasure hunts, t-shirt painting with animal stencils, clay building competitions and short walks around the waterhole to identify tracks.
Older children are given an activity book to record sightings etc and on boma evenings children make their own bread on sticks and toast marshmallows on the fire. Babysitting carries a nominal charge and the carers have professional training including first aid. There are a variety of toys including Lego, colouring books and puzzles.
Day 6 Cape Town
Return transfer to the airstrip for the light aircraft flight to Johannesburg to connect with the scheduled flight to Cape Town.
On arrival late afternoon, collect your hire vehicle for the 30 minute journey to Clarendon Fresnaye for a 4 night stay in a family room with breakfast included.
Clarendon Fresnaye has an excellent central location with easy access to the V&A Waterfront for shopping, the Aquarium and Camps Bay for the lovely beaches. The city of Cape Town has vibrant markets and many historical features including the Cape castle built by the first settlers. A visit to the penguin colony is a must en route to Cape Point. In season June to end of October, there is shore based whale watching in Hermanus which is just two hours away. We can arrange a private township tour with a possible school visit.
Day 9 Make your way to Cape Town Airport,...
