This 14-night Argentina holiday is a great introduction to the classic highlights of this diverse country. Experience the breathtaking Iguazu Falls, the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires, awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier, stunning lakes and forests around Bariloche, and the winelands within Mendoza Province.

Fall in love with the classic European-style architecture of Buenos Aires, the wide boulevards and the sultry sounds of tango. As night falls, indulge in prime Argentine beef complemented by the dark, robust flavours of Malbec. Visit the famous Recoleta cemetery and learn about the heroic late Eva Peron.

Then venture to one of Latin America's most spectacular natural wonders: Iguazu Falls in the tropical north of the country. Surrounded by lush rainforest, the 275 individual waterfalls cover several kilometres. From the Devil's Throat suspended lookout, feel the powerful, concentrated torrent of water as the deafening cascade plunges over the precipice.

In the far south, Patagonia is a region of endless wilderness, snowy peaks, emerald forests and roaring rivers. Visit one of its most famous sites - the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier. Admire this magnificent glacier by boat and from a variety of vantage points.

Midway between the icy depths of Patagonia and the fertile winelands of Mendoza lies the Lake District. This section of the Andes Mountains around Bariloche town is one of the most photogenic areas of the country, with green forested landscapes and a backdrop of dramatic snow-capped peaks.

End your Argentine adventure in a winery close to Mendoza. Backed by the Andes mountains, this delightful region is ideal for relaxation and delicious gastronomy, accompanied by the country's best wines.

Itinerary

Depart the UK today on your overnight flight to Iguazu Falls.
You arrive in Brazil today after your overnight flight from the UK travelling via Sao Paulo. The falls have two sides in both Brazil and Argentina, and from the airport in Iguaçu, you first visit the Brazilian side of the falls. A paved pathway of three kilometres leads its way through the park and provides panoramic views across to the Argentinean side, often framed by rainbows straddling the clouds of spray. The trails eventually reach the final viewpoint where the earth appears to open as a mass of thundering water crashes over a horseshoe-shaped precipice nearly five kilometres wide and 90m high. At the end of your visit, you continue to your hotel on the Argentine side of the border.
Today, you're taken to enjoy a tour of the Argentine side of the falls. Made up of 275 separate falls and surrounded by lush vegetation, the rich sub-tropical forest is home to a vast array of wildlife including tropical birds, butterflies, monkeys and coatimundis. A series of pathways running through the national park allow for exceptional views from several vantage points.
This morning, transfer to the airport on the Argentinian side of the border and fly to Buenos Aires. You arrive in Argentina's bustling and cosmopolitan capital - which is commonly known as the “Paris of South America”, owing to its classical architecture, plazas, fountains and wide boulevards. This afternoon, you're then taken for an introductory tour of the city. Visit some of the characterful neighbourhoods, including the colourful district of La Boca with its quirky caminitos, upmarket Recoleta and trendy Palermo. You also visit the Plaza de Mayo that's flanked by the Presidential Palace, Casa Rosada.
Today is a full day based in Buenos Aires to explore independently. Additional options available today include a day trip over the Rio de la Plata to Uruguay, a trip out to an estancia in The Pampas, a visit to the Delta town of Tigre, or further time in Buenos Aires. You may perhaps want to go into the museums or galleries not covered yesterday, or even for a culinary focused tour to some of the best places Buenos Aires has to eat and drink. Later today, you're then collected for one of the most iconic highlights of Buenos Aires - a night at the tango! Spend this evening at a tango theatre and experience some of Argentina's finest singers and dancers in an evocative show featuring music, lyrics and the sensual dance of the tango. Enjoy a typical Argentinian dinner and excellent local wines, all served in a charming atmosphere.
El Calafate
Depart Buenos Aires today and fly to El Calafate in the heart of Patagonia. The Patagonian region offers spectacular wild and majestic scenery in Parque Nacional Los Glaciares (Glaciers National Park) - a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981 and a land of colossal mountain ranges crowned in snow and pristine glaciers descending into turquoise lakes.
Visit Los Glaciares National Park and, most importantly, Perito Moreno Glacier. A huge river of ice 30km long and five kilometres wide descends from the Southern Patagonian ice field to Lago Argentino. As it advances, the ice cracks and produces thunderous roars that reverberate from deep within the glacier, producing a hugely impressive show. A walk along the paths in front of its western wall allows you to admire this natural wonder from different viewpoints and take a boat trip to enjoy views of the glacier wall from lake level.
Staying at   Kosten Aike Hotel
Bariloche
Today, travel north of El Calafate to the town of Bariloche at the heart of the beautiful Argentine Lake District. There are some twenty lakes on the Argentine side of the Andes, the largest being Lake Nahuel Huapi - on the shores of which sits the pretty town of Bariloche. The town has an almost alpine flavour with Swiss chalet style wooden buildings, making it a great base to explore the surrounding national parks.
Today, you're taken out to explore the spectacular scenery around the Lake District. You begin with a drive along the southern shore and an overview of Lake Nahuel Huapi and the surrounding mountains Lopez and Capilla. Approximately 17km from Bariloche, visit Mount Campanario, where you can take a chairlift and enjoy the incredible views. Afterwards, enjoy a walk through the forest within the Llao Llao National Park to visit a local microbrewery, where you'll have lunch and the option of some beer tasting.
Today, travel north from Bariloche on a flight to Mendoza - the gateway to Argentina’s spectacular winelands. Spend the next three nights in a valley on the outskirts of Mendoza City. The area around Mendoza contributes to 70% of Argentina's wine production and Malbec is the region's specialty. The agroecological conditions are almost perfect, hence why the area has been chosen to produce the most exquisite and finest wines in the country.
Today, you're collected from your hotel and taken on a tour of various vineyards in the local area.
Today is a full day at leisure in the wine region of Argentina. You have various options today aside from taking some time to relax at your lodge, with hikes and treks in the Andean foothills, additional wine tours and visits on foot, by bike or even on horseback.
You have a final morning in the wine region before you take a flight to Buenos Aires, and a final night in Argentina's capital city.
You have the morning at leisure in Buenos Aires until you're collected and driven to the airport in time for your overnight flights back to the UK.
