Barichara is located in the Santander region of Colombia, around 3 hours by road from Bucaramanga, and is one of the country's most attractive colonial heritage towns. Set amongst the surrounding mountains and countryside, the town is made up Andalusian style houses, cobbled streets, and colonial-era architecture. Tuk-Tuks run up and down the narrow streets and run between the central sites of the town including the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Chapel of Santa Bárbara, the Church of the Virgin Santa Lucia, and the local cemetery, among others. Outside of Barichara, you can learn about the history of the region at the Paleontological and Archaeological Museum of Guane, whilst from the viewpoint at Guane you can take in the stunning Salto del Mico lookout.
